Certified doula Girl mama ร— 3 Veteran spouse Greensboro NC

I'm a birthing doula located in Greensboro, NC. I'm a mother of three and a former military spouse. I love all things motherhood โ€” even though some days aren't as joyful as others. I'm here for it all.

Why I Became a Doula

There are a few reasons why I became a doula. Let me share each one from the heart:

01

Reason one

The military community that showed up for me

Being in a foreign country alone without my family to help scared me. Until I met some wonderful women on base who threw me a baby shower and came to the hospital to help me through labor. Even after we were home, they still visited and helped me so much โ€” and that meant the world to me. That's when I understood the power of having the right people in your corner. I want to be that person for other mamas.

02

Reason two โ€” the most important

The mortality rate of women of color

This is the most important reason I do what I do. It breaks my heart every time I hear about a mother or baby not making it through labor. It angers me when it's due to the carelessness of medical staff. I know I can't help everyone โ€” but I sure will try. The statistics are unacceptable and the system needs advocates in every birth room. I want to be one of them.

03

Reason three

My own birth experience in the States

My third baby girl was born here in the States โ€” and it was a horrible experience. I thought that because it was my third pregnancy, I would be able to advocate for myself. But that was not the case โ€” they didn't listen. And I regretted not having a doula. You can read more about that experience here โ†’

"But here I am today โ€” with three beautiful, healthy girls, a certification, and a whole lot of plans in the works."
