About doulas
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Unlike midwives or OBs, doulas do not provide clinical or medical care — instead, they focus on the comfort and emotional wellbeing of the birthing person and their family.
Research shows that having a doula present during labor can lead to shorter labors, reduced need for pain medication, lower rates of cesarean births, and higher rates of breastfeeding success. But beyond the statistics, a doula provides something priceless: a calm, knowledgeable presence who is solely focused on your wellbeing and your birth experience.
Absolutely! A doula supports you no matter your birth plan — medicated, unmedicated, hospital, birth center, or home birth. Regardless of your pain management choices, having a dedicated support person who knows you and your preferences is invaluable. A doula can help you communicate your wishes to medical staff and keep you calm and informed throughout the process.
Not at all! A doula complements your existing support system. In fact, one of my favorite parts of the job is coaching partners so they feel confident and helpful during labor. Many partners feel relieved to have an experienced professional present — it takes the pressure off them and lets everyone focus on supporting you.
Working with Tiffany
I primarily serve families in Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem, NC, and the surrounding Triad area. If you're located outside this region, please reach out — I'm happy to discuss options on a case-by-case basis.
The earlier, the better! I recommend reaching out in your first or second trimester so we have plenty of time to connect, build a relationship, and create your birth plan together. That said, I understand that sometimes plans change — if you're further along in your pregnancy, please still reach out and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
We start with a free consultation to get to know each other and discuss your needs. If we're a great fit, we'll set up prenatal visits to go over your birth preferences, answer questions, and prepare you and your partner. I'll be on-call from 37 weeks until you deliver. I'll join you in labor and stay through delivery and the first couple of hours postpartum. Then we'll follow up with postpartum visits to check in on you and baby.
I only take a limited number of clients per month to ensure I'm fully available for each family. I also have a trusted backup doula available in the rare event of scheduling conflicts. You'll meet my backup during our prenatal visits so you're comfortable with whoever is present at your birth.
Pricing & logistics
Pricing varies depending on the package and services you need. I offer flexible packages to accommodate different budgets and needs. Please book a free consultation or contact me directly and I'll provide a custom quote based on your situation. I believe every family deserves quality doula support, so let's talk about what works for you.
Some insurance plans and HSA/FSA accounts cover doula services — it's worth checking with your provider. I can provide an itemized receipt for reimbursement purposes. Coverage is expanding as more research shows the positive impact doulas have on birth outcomes, so don't assume it won't be covered without checking first.
Yes! I understand that having a baby comes with many expenses. I'm happy to discuss a payment plan that works for your family. Typically a deposit is made at signing to hold your spot, with the remainder paid before your due date. Let's talk — I want to make this work for you.
